This privacy policy explains how ElectricPal for iOS collects, uses, and shares information when you use the app. It is tailored specifically to the iOS build currently distributed via TestFlight/App Store Connect, where Premium features are complimentary and Apple in-app purchases are disabled.
1. Data We Collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate features such as the AI study assistant, quiz tools, article suggestions, and reminder notifications. The categories collected on iOS are:

No account registration is required; ElectricPal does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or payment details on iOS.
2. How Data Is Used
- Core functionality: Local preferences, quiz history, and AI usage counters are stored on-device using SQLite and shared preferences.
- AI experiences: When you interact with AI Assistant features or AI-generated quizzes, your prompts and related context are securely transmitted to our trusted AI processing partner (Google’s Gemini service). Responses are cached briefly to improve follow-up interactions and are deleted when no longer needed.
- Analytics & diagnostics: We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (Google LLC) to gather aggregate usage insights and crash reports. Analytics data is de-identified and helps us prioritize product improvements.
- Notifications: We store your notification opt-in status and preferred reminder schedule to deliver daily study prompts. You can change these settings at any time in the app.
- Fraud prevention & abuse detection: A pseudonymous installation identifier lets us enforce AI usage limits and prevent abusive requests, without identifying you personally.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share user content with advertising networks.

Each partner processes data in accordance with its own privacy policy and applicable law. All transmissions use TLS encryption.
4. Data Retention
- On-device content: Quiz attempts, bookmarks, and AI caches remain on your device until you delete the app or clear them from settings.
- Analytics & diagnostics: Firebase retains pseudonymous analytics data for up to 14 months and crash logs for up to 90 days.
- AI prompts: Cached AI interactions are purged within 30 days.
5. Your Rights & Controls
- Permissions: The app only requests notification permission. Notifications can be disabled in iOS Settings → Notifications → ElectricPal.
- Data export & deletion: Contact us (see Section 8) with your installation ID (found in Settings → About) to request data export or deletion for analytics and support records.
- Opt-out of analytics: Toggle “Share Usage Analytics” in iOS Settings or limit ad tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.
- AI content: You can clear recent AI sessions in the AI chat history or by reinstalling the app.
Legal rights (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) apply where you reside. We honor verified requests for access, correction, portability, or deletion. Note that removing on-device data requires deleting the app.
6. Children’s Privacy
ElectricPal is designed for professional learners and is not intended for children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us to remove it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), least-privilege credentials, and regular security reviews. No system is 100% secure; please contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect new features, legal requirements, or partner changes. Updates take effect when posted in-app and on voltagelab.com/privacy-policy. If changes materially affect your rights, we will notify you via in-app notice or email (if available).
